Photos

If you have a digital camera, feel free to bring it a long and take some happy-snaps on the day. Bring your cables too, and we can upload them onto a computer so we can make them available both on the web after the event and organise to display them on the big screen at the party. Otherwise pass them on to JK after the tournament.

Golf

As always, you need to bring your own disc for the Philip Redneck Ruddock Throw Them Overboard Disc Golf Classic - and maybe even a spare, if you are prone to throwing them overboard. Ultimate discs only thanks - no golf discs! If you are flying in late and want to play the golf, make sure you let Dave Wilson know, or we may start without you! Note the golf will consist of 18 holes. As with previous Two-Hats, this year we will be playing two consecutive rounds of 9 holes at the St David's Park course and will miss out on the long walk between courses and the very dark Princes Park course, in nearby Battery Point.

There will only be one start time for the Philip Redneck Ruddock Throw Them Overboard Disc Golf Classic. The first group will tee-off at around 8:00pm from St David's Park but as each group will be playing two rounds, if you arrive a little late, you should be able to find people still playing (or waiting to tee off) if you arrive a little later.

Remember that there are two categories for the golf, skirt wearers and non-skirt wearers, with a prize to be awarded for each category. Your choice as to the category in which you play.

Pre-golf dinner and drinks may be had at Salamanca, for those who are interested. Many Two-Hat veterans can often be spotted with Discs at Knoppies from around 6:00pm. Feel free to join people for a drink at Knoppies, or get something to eat an one of the many eateries in the near vicinity.

Don't forget to bring a torch to help find the disks that land in the "water hazards".

Party

The Two-Hat Mad-Hat Party!

This year the Two-Hat party will be held at The Duke Restaurant/Bar, 192 Macquarie St, Hobart. The theme is “Mad-Hat”, so please bring along your craziest hat! If not, one will be provided for you when you arrive...

So bring your hats and meet us at The Duke starting around 8pm on Saturday night for drinks, nibbles and some post-Two-Hat socializing! The Duke does serve food (they make a pretty excellent woodfired pizza, and you can check out their menu here so you could grab a pre-party meal there if you like.

Friends and family of Two-Hat players are more than welcome to attend the party and enjoy the festivities

Receipts

Formal receipts will be written for registration payments for auditing purposes - but unless you make a special request, paper receipts will not be issued this year. You can check your registration, payment and AFDA status on the rego list however.

Budget

In past years, several people have suggested that the cost of the Two-Hat is somewhat high and they are interested to know where the money goes. The TUA is an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation and has to be independently audited each year. According to the 2003 audited statement, Two-Hat V made a total profit of $98. What this statement does not show is a "hidden" subsidy/gift of $127, (covering the costs of game discs and pizza at the party) from the Tas Uni Ultimate Frisbee Club. Without this subsidy, the event would have run at a small loss! According to the 2004 audited statement, Two-Hat VI operated at a small loss ($165). According to other audited financial statements (look for them yourself in the reports section of the TUA meetings page reports section of the TUA meetings page if you are really interested) Two-Hat VII made a small profit ($492) and Two-Hat VIII a small loss ($105) - so you are unlikely to be lining the coffers of the TUA through your Two-Hat registration!

In 2003, the costs per player were roughly: $25 for producing the t-shirts (we needed to print more t-shirts than we had players); $5 per head for the cost of lunch (extremely cheap, especially given the quality of the lunches and given that Stan provided his labour and expertise for free!); $7 for field hire (expensive - but very nice fields and they do have grass on them!); and $1 for prizes and miscellaneous expenses. The average fee collected per player was $35.39 and sales of sports drinks, chocolate bars and spare t-shirts raised just over $4 per player.

In 2004, the costs per player were roughly: $23 for producing the t-shirts ; $7 per head for the cost of lunch; $5 for field hire; $2.50 for AFDA fees; and $5.50 for advertising, prizes and miscellaneous expenses. The average fee collected per player was $40.42 and sales of sports drinks, chocolate bars and spare t-shirts raised just over $1.50 per player. In addition around $7 per player was spent on party costs.

In 2005, the costs per player were roughly: $23.50 for producing the t-shirts (we needed to print more t-shirts than we had players); $6 per head for the cost of lunch (extremely cheap, especially given the quality of the lunches); $6 for field hire (including grandstands); $2.50 for AFDA fees; and $2 for advertising, prizes and miscellaneous expenses. The average fee collected per player was $40.11 and sales of sports drinks, chocolate bars and spare t-shirts raised just over $2 per player. In addition around $8 per player was spent on party costs.

From 2006-2009 the story was similar, but this detailed analysis hasn't been repeated for this forum.

If anyone wishes to inspect the detailed Two-Hat V, VI or VII financial statements, talk to Jemery, or Matt for Two-Hat VIII, IX and X or the TUA treasurer. Any proceeds from the Two-Hat go towards supporting the growth of ultimate frisbee in Tasmania. Any losses are covered by the TUA. If anyone still thinks that the Two-Hat is expensive, and that they could run it for less, feel free to apply for the position of Two-Hat TD in 2010!

Merchandise

Limited numbers of excess Two-Hat XII t-shirts may be available on the day. If you want to reserve one of these shirts, talk to Shavawn. There may be some Two-Hat XI shirts left, but all remaining stocks of earlier Two-Hat shirts appear to have been sold. These are now collectors items!
