Winter League in 2008 will be played indoor due to the wintery conditions that Tasmanians have to endure.
Winter League will run on Sunday afternoons from 5-6pm from July 13 to September 21, at Aurora Sports Stadium, Creek Road, New Town. These courts will give us much more room than the small courts at Hobart College. With this new improved venue, registration fees will have to increase slightly to cover the costs of hiring these facilities. We hope you will appreciate the improvement in venue. Expect to play one 60 minute game per week either between 5 and 6 pm each week.
There will be one division in this league, with a maximum of 8 teams with 7 players per team (5 players on the field at any one time). Preferences for team mates can be expressed, but the league organiser reserves the right to balance teams as necessary.
Because field space is limted for this league, player numbers may be capped; So register and pay early, to ensure that you don't miss out.
The league organisers for the Winter League are Matt Smith and John Kristensen. You can either pay your registration fees electronically, or you can pay cash directly to Matt during the Autumn League finals.

Online registration is now open for the Winter League. Brand new players get a discount league fee, but they are subject to the $20 late fee this league! There is a late fee for all registrations completed after July 4. If you want to play at all, you need to make sure you have paid your league fees first! For insurance purposes, if you haven't paid, the league organiser will be required to stop you from playing.
To be able to hire the fields for this league, we need public liability insurance. We get this insurance through the Australian Flying Disc Association. To secure this insurance, all players need to be AFDA members. You need to obtain and enter a valid AFDA number before registering (see AFDA membership for details on how to get an AFDA number). AFDA fees are now included in league fees, but you need to supply us with an AFDA number for insurance purposes.
Registration payment, can be paid (in order of our preference) by (i) electronic transfer of funds, (ii) by cash or (if you really have no other choice) (iii) by cheque. More details are available on payment options.
AFDA membership (covering you for this league only) is now built in to the league fee. To ensure we are covered by insurance, you need to supply a valid AFDA number. More details are available on AFDA membership structure and fees.
As of January 1 2008, the AFDA reinstituted Personal Injury Insurance as part of their insurance policy. Given that claims to the AFDA's personal injury insurance have a maximum pay out of $1,500, it has been agreed by the AFDA board that the Members' Compassionate Fund will continue to operate in 2008 in order to provide additional compensation for big injury claims. The current low insurance prices are unlikely to last beyond the medium term, in which case the AFDA will revert to using the Member Compassionate Fund as the primary vehicle to assist our members in financial need.
The fee structure for Winter League is shown below. If you want to minimise your fees, make sure you pay by the appropriate deadline. Note there is an increase in fees from previous indoor leagues to cover the increase in field costs due to paying for Aurora Stadium.
Winter registration fees are as follows:
We encourage payment by electronic transfer of funds. Organising a league takes a considerable amount of time and effort, and electronic payments streamline the process, enabling our league organisers more time to sort out teams and to make sure everything else runs smoothly! Please help out if you can.
The rules for the Hobart Indoor Leagues are based on the WFDF rules. The League Organiser takes the position of the TD under those rules. Check the latest local indoor rules here.

Sandown Park Fields - used for Spring and Summer Leagues.
From Spring 2005, the Hobart Spring and Summer Leagues moved back to the fields at Sandown Park, Lower Sandy Bay.
From Spring 2007, late games at Sandown Park were supposed to be played under lights! However, there were some ongoing issues with the lights - the new lights are not yet operational and the old lights at Sandown are not bright enough to play under. As a result, Rounds 2-4 of Division 1 were played under lights at the Rugby Fields, Sandy Bay. From Round 5, the extra hours of daylight enabled a move back to Sandown Park and 3 simultaneous Division 1 games.
For Summer League 2008, all minor round games were played under lights at Sandown Park, in Lower Sandy Bay with the finals played over two weeks in April under lights at the Rugby Fields, Sandy Bay.
In 2008 Autumn and Winter leagues will be played indoors at Aurora Stadium, Creek Road, New Town.
