Winter League in 2008 will be played indoor due to the wintery conditions that Tasmanians have to endure.
Winter League will run on Sunday afternoons from 5-6pm from July 13 to September 21, at Aurora Sports Stadium, Creek Road, New Town. These courts will give us much more room than the small courts at Hobart College. With this new improved venue, registration fees will have to increase slightly to cover the costs of hiring these facilities. We hope you will appreciate the improvement in venue. Expect to play one 60 minute game per week either between 5 and 6 pm each week.
There will be one division in this league, with a maximum of 8 teams with 7 players per team (5 players on the field at any one time). Preferences for team mates can be expressed, but the league organiser reserves the right to balance teams as necessary.
Because field space is limted for this league, player numbers may be capped; So register and pay early, to ensure that you don't miss out.
The league organisers for the Winter League are Matt Smith and John Kristensen. You can either pay your registration fees electronically, or you can pay cash directly to Matt during the Autumn League finals.

The fee structure for Winter League is shown below. If you want to minimise your fees, make sure you pay by the appropriate deadline. Note there is an increase in fees from previous indoor leagues to cover the increase in field costs due to paying for Aurora Stadium.
Winter registration fees are as follows:
We encourage payment by electronic transfer of funds. Organising a league takes a considerable amount of time and effort, and electronic payments streamline the process, enabling our league organisers more time to sort out teams and to make sure everything else runs smoothly! Please help out if you can.
The rules for the Hobart Indoor Leagues are based on the WFDF rules. The League Organiser takes the position of the TD under those rules. Check the latest local indoor rules here.

Sandown Park Fields - used for Spring and Summer Leagues.
From Spring 2005, the Hobart Spring and Summer Leagues moved back to the fields at Sandown Park, Lower Sandy Bay.
From Spring 2007, late games at Sandown Park were supposed to be played under lights! However, there were some ongoing issues with the lights - the new lights are not yet operational and the old lights at Sandown are not bright enough to play under. As a result, Rounds 2-4 of Division 1 were played under lights at the Rugby Fields, Sandy Bay. From Round 5, the extra hours of daylight enabled a move back to Sandown Park and 3 simultaneous Division 1 games.
For Summer League 2008, all minor round games were played under lights at Sandown Park, in Lower Sandy Bay with the finals played over two weeks in April under lights at the Rugby Fields, Sandy Bay.
In 2008 Autumn and Winter leagues will be played indoors at Aurora Stadium, Creek Road, New Town.

With Kermit finishing top of the table after the regular season, they face a very determined Scoober Divers in the first semi-final. It was a very close game with points being traded for a majority of the match. Kermit eventually managed to draw a few points clear towards the end of the game, winning 16-12.
The second semi-final between Dark Horse and Fog was another close game, with points being traded for most of the first half. Fog managed to get a bit of a break early on in the second half, only to have Dark Horse claw their way back into the game. Fog once again found something extra towards the end of the match to eventually win 16-13.
Kermit got off to a flyer at the beginning of the final, before Fog settled into a bit of a rythem to get scores back to level. Both teams then went point for point for the majority of the game and what was a highly defensive tussle, with some very patient offensive play both both sides. Kermit eventually got a break late in the game to become eventual winners 14-13.
Style in the final: Michael Dunne (Fog) for a nice grab in the endzone.
Guts in the final: Felix Kennedy (Kermit) for being put on his arse by Micahel during previously mentioned throw.
Spirit Winners: Kermit
League Champions: Kermit
A big thank you to all player who took part in the Winter Indoor League for 2008. A special thankyou to Jeff Dunn for keeping the league ladder up to date; to Mike Baker for orangising the courts; to Maz & Tracy for cooking up a storm on the BBQ (and Stew for providing the gas), and to all the guys and girls who helped clean the place up after the finals were done.
