The TUA's first formal leagues began with the Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter Ultimate Leagues, initiated by Mamoru Matsuki and first played in Hobart on Monday nights from October 2001. The results and history of Monday (and Tuesday) night leagues can be found at the history page.
In addition to these regular leagues, regular rounds of the Tasmanian Ultimate Championships were played from June to December 2002 through until December 2005. In 2006, the Tasmanian Ultimate Championships changed into a 3 team competition and became the A-League, which lasted through until the end of the Summer 2007 season. In Spring 2007 the Monday evening outdoor social league first formed two divisions. In Winter 2009, the Tasmanian Ultimate Championships were reformed as a 4 team league.
Prior to the introduction of these leagues, the closest the TUA came to organising a league was the CSIRO/Uni Challenge (instigated by Craig Mundy) held regularly in 2000 and a little sporadically since; and the developmental K-League run on Monday evenings in the summer time. Both of these competitions were run in conjunction with the University of Tasmania Ultimate Frisbee Club. The K-League has been superseded by other leagues, and the CSIRO/Uni challenge became the Uni/Workers Party Challenge in 2005, with the demise of the CSIRO team.
If you are looking for a regular (weekly) game of Ultimate in Hobart, and you can't play the Hobart League, then your best bet is to look for a pickup game.
